Getting Started
Learn the basics and how to get started.
What happens during a credit counseling session?
You’ll speak one-on-one with a certified counselor who reviews your income, expenses, and debts. From there, you’ll receive personalized recommendations and a clear plan for the future. There is no pressure to enroll in anything.
How long does it take to get started?
You can typically schedule a session right away, and most counseling sessions take about 45 to 60 minutes. You’ll leave the conversation with a better understanding of your options.
What if I’m already behind on payments?
It’s okay. You’re not alone. We help people at all stages, whether you’re current, behind, or feeling overwhelmed. The sooner you reach out, the more options you may have.
Debt & Credit
Understand how our programs impact your debt and credit.
Will using your services affect my credit score?
Credit counseling itself does not impact your credit score. If you choose to enroll in a debt management program, there may be a temporary impact, but many clients see long-term improvement as they pay down debt.
How do I know if a debt management plan is right for me?
During your free session, a certified counselor will review your full financial picture and walk through your options. If a debt management plan makes sense, we’ll explain how it works so you can decide with confidence.
What types of debt can you help with?
We primarily help with unsecured debts like credit cards, medical bills, personal and payday loans. Your counselor will review your specific situation and recommend the best path forward.
Can you work directly with my creditors?
Yes. If you enroll in a debt management plan, we can work with your creditors to potentially lower interest rates and consolidate your payments into one monthly payment.
